Voter Registration Information Required for New Seattle Residents
Last month a new ordinance was passed in Seattle that requires landlords (or Property Managers) to provide voter registration information to new tenants. Seattle Property Owners are already required to provide tenants with an information packet on housing laws. This new information can easily be added to the existing packet.
The new ordinance is designed to help increase voter registration. Studies have shown that people on the move vote at lower rates. In fact, in Seattle we have one of the fastest growing big cities in the nation, with a high proportion of our population renting and moving frequently.
