City Proposed Changes on Inspections for Rental Units
The City of Seattle revised their inspection program in 2015 and are already considering some updates. The updates to the program would require 20% of rentals be inspected, (currently only 15% of rentals are inspected), will shorten the notice given to property owners (currently property owners receive a 60-day notice), and will add conditions around lead-paint and carbon monoxide detectors.
Overall the updates to the inspection program are meant to maintain safe living quarters for tenants.
